It began its activities in 1920 as the library of the School of Libraries, created in 1915 by the Commonwealth of Catalonia.
As the first specialized library in the State, the collection brings together the most representative publications in its field throughout the 20th century.
Currently, it combines the specialized funds of the studies taught at the Faculty: Degree in Information and Documentation, Degree in Audiovisual Communication, Master's Degree in Digital Content Management, Master's Degree in School Library and Reading Promotion, Postgraduate Diploma in Bookstore, etc.
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The catalog of the UB libraries
It is the main access tool to all the documents available in libraries (books, magazines, electronic resources, sound recordings, videos, multimedia, etc.) and to an important ancient collection (manuscripts, incunabula, parchments, engravings, printed books from the 16th century to 1820 ).
It has: quick search, advanced search (allows you to use Boolean operators, limit by location, language, year of publication and type of material) and other searches (ISBN/ISSN, topographic, collection).

Perform simultaneous searches on groups of selected resources, as long as the resource allows it (metasearchable resources, the icon appears: ).
The ReCercador+
The ReFencer+ offers a single point of access to different electronic resources. It allows you to find journal articles and other electronic documents by searching a single central database, and access the full text if it is available. See reference guide.
The ReFencer+ will allow you to:
Locate e-journals and access the full texts of the articles.
Locate the e-resources subscribed to by the UB and access a selection of free access e-resources. Search for specific bibliography on different topics and access the full text (if we have subscribed to the publication).

The Virtual Campus
The Virtual Campus is an online learning environment adapted to the face-to-face, blended and distance learning needs of the University of Barcelona and the entire UB Group.
The bibliography recommended by each professor within the virtual space is linked to the Catalog of UB Libraries, so that you can quickly find out about the availability of this document in the Library.

This is a service that gives you access to your CRAI user registry.
Once identified, you can see and renew your loans, make reservations, create registration lists, access the catalog query, consult your loan history (if you activate it), as well as select and save your preferred searches.

Access to University e-resources
The SIRE (Intermediary Service for Access to Electronic Resources) allows access to the electronic information resources contracted by the CRAI of the UB from a computer, client or device located inside and outside the UB network. It is based on OCLC's EZproxy solution.
It is aimed at PDI, PAS and students of the University of Barcelona.

Document loan service
The loan of documents makes it easier to consult the CRAI's bibliographic collections outside its premises for a determined period of time. To be able to use this service, it is essential to have a UB card or a document proving the right to borrow. You can also request documents from other UB libraries, which normally arrive in 2-3 days.

Consortium Loan Service (PUC)
The PUC is a free syndicated loan service that allows users of member libraries of the Consortium of University Services of Catalonia (CSUC) to request and borrow documents from another CSUC library.
How to request a document:
• In person: PUC on site, in the library where the documents are found.• Remotely: PUC via web, through the Collective Catalog of the Universities of Catalonia
v(CCUC), with the new interface (http://puc.cbuc.cat).
Be registered and updated in the user database of the loan service of your institution. Not have expired loan documents. Not be blocked or penalized in the loan service.

laptop loan service
The Library Science Library has 15 laptops to provide students, teachers and administration and services staff with access to electronic information and the UB Wi-Fi network.
To access the laptop loan you need:
Sign the laptop contract.
You can sign the contract and borrow the laptops at the Library counter.
Have the updated UB card.
Not have any sanction for delay in the return of documents at the time of the loan.

Interlibrary Loan Free photocopies
The objective of the interlibrary loan service is to locate and obtain the original or copy of any type of document that is not found in the CRAI of the UB and that is not available at other Catalan universities through the PUC.
It also acts as a borrowing center for own funds for other institutions.
This service is subject to fees.
This service allows you to obtain a free copy (on paper or in electronic format) of articles from journals subscribed to by the UB that are not found in the CRAIBiblioteca that you regularly use and that are not accessible in electronic format.
Example: Your work location is Library Science and you want a magazine article found in Letters.

The Library has two photocopiers/printers in the Reprography Room. you can send
print jobs from library computers.

To send a document to print: File > Print
select OCE 2070 or OCE 1055
You will need a card that can be purchased at the vendors that you will find next to the machines.
1 card + 10 copies = €1.50
Once you have purchased the card, you only have to top it up with the number of copies you need (€0.09/2 copies).
Each computer is identified with an OCE printer user number. Take note of this number and go to the photocopier. Look for your number on the screen, select the document and press the green button.
